The Sustainable Eel Group (SEG) has been a Community Member of ISEAL since September 2019 and in May 2025 it attained ISEAL Code Compliant status.

On 16 September 2025 ISEAL suspended SEG’s Community Membership and ISEAL Code Compliant status after assessing that there had been several failures in SEG’s System, as evaluated by ISEAL.

SEG has developed and submitted a Remediation Plan which was accepted by ISEAL on 26 October, conditional on the evidence of the implementation of the actions in the Remediation Plan. On 28 October SEG accepted those conditions.

SEG is currently engaged in the process required to lift its suspension of ISEAL Community Member status and Code Compliant status, which includes a full review of certified and non-certified eels entering SEG certified supply chains and undergoing an independent evaluation against the ISEAL Code of Good Practice for Sustainability Systems v1.1.
